How did you first discover gourd art?
While exhibiting at a wood show one of our regular customers showed me a unique gourd necklace. It was stunning & once I discovered the endless possibilities this medium offered, I was hooked.
When did you begin making your own gourd creations & why?
We started in 2004 and haven't looked back.
What types of things do you make with gourds? What influences or inspires your art?
We create everything from pyroengraved bowls & purses to art dolls & jewellery. Our art is influenced by nature, human form & fantasy. I guess our inspiration is constantly being renewed from different sources.
Tell a little about yourself:
Morris (Moe) & I generally work together as a team on the art dolls. He loves to create faces & sculpture form. I tend to work on the technical aspects of armature, decoration & finishing. Our interests occassionally diverge when I "burn" a piece & Moe switches to carving.
